In the 2007 edition of his Whisky Bible, UK whisky guru Jim Murray, one of the world’s foremost authorities on whisky, is effusive in his praise of the Tasmanian Distillery. He rated its six year old Sullivans Cove Bourbon Cask an impressive 95 points out of a possible 100 describing it as “sensational, truly beautiful and brilliant.” Murray tasted 3,600 whiskies before rating them for the Whisky Bible with just three Scottish whiskies rating 97 and another 25 given 96 points.
“Tasmania has a global reputation as a producer of world-class fine foods and
beverages. Tasmania's natural advantages of clean water, high-quality barley and an idyllic
climate are vital ingredients in the distilling of world-class single malt whiskies. This, when
combined with the innovative and entrepreneurial nature of the Tasmanian people, is Tasmania
Distillery's competitive advantage.”
Ken Bacon, Tasmania’s Minister for Tourism, Parks and Heritage
